Powering Singapore Health Discovery

Lifebit turns Multi-Modal Data Complexity into Insights Actionable Precision Medicine
Building the federated platform behind TRUST — Singapore’s Trusted Research and Real-World Data Discovery and Utilisation Platform — with Synapxe, the national HealthTech agency.
“Through our collaboration with Lifebit, we are advancing the use of research and clinical insights using clinico-genomic data for precision medicine. By doing so, we hope to accelerate the translation into clinical workflows, in a manner that will make a significant impact to improving healthcare for Singaporeans.”

Chief Data Officer and Director, Data Analytics & AI of Synapxe

Challenges
- 20PB of genomic and linked health data, making data transfer and duplication impractical
- High PDPA and MOH security requirements to access sensitive genomic and clinical datasets
- Need to scalably support 1000+ researchers and multiple external partners (including pharma)
- High complexity of securely linking multi-modal datasets (genomics, EHR, registries, imaging, lifestyle)
Outcomes
- Federated, privacy-preserving analysis without moving sensitive data
- Secure data linkage across genomic, clinical, registry, and longitudinal datasets
- Accelerated precision medicine for Asian populations, with faster translation to clinical and population health impact
- Improved biomarker discovery and patient stratification across population-scale cohorts
- Enablement of public-private partnerships between healthcare, academia, and pharma

FAQs
A federated platform for clinico-genomic precision medicine
Sovereign by architecture
Data, compute, and audit logs remain inside Singapore. There is no architectural path by which patient-level data leaves the perimeter, regardless of researcher accreditation.
Linked clinical + genomic analytics
Researchers can ask questions that require both clinical and genomic context in a single analytic environment, supporting precision-medicine programmes that would otherwise require multi-site data movement.
Operational governance under Synapxe
Project approvals, accreditation, data-use agreements, and audit trails are run by Synapxe and the Ministry of Health — not by a foreign vendor. The platform is the analytics layer; control of the platform stays in Singapore.
A research toolkit, not a black box
Jupyter, R, Nextflow, and Lifebit’s federated AI tooling all run inside the environment, so researchers use the tools they already know without exporting data to use them.

Want a sovereign TRE for your country?
Lifebit’s federated platform is deployed for national health data programmes from the UK to Singapore — with data, compute, and governance staying in-country.
